I found an Indian Nerdfighter in the comments of John’s videos, and I might have sent a too excited comment on his/her channel.

The poor 14yrld old might be freaked out by my enthusiasm… and he/she is 8yrs younger than me, man I feel OLD!

TFiOS in my hands!!! Right on time.

Will read it on my way to Mysore in the 23hr train journey :D

Why does John’s facebook page still says “lives in New York, New York”

I got so confused whether this is the real John Green or not, but he was friends Hank Green so I subscribed.

But has he really not updated his FB since 2007?

Though this was a sad moment in the book, but I couldn’t help laughing!!!
John Green + Dudley!

I don’t remember if I ever posted my nails from when I met John Green
*I fixed a couple of them before I actually went. I made the yeti one the cover of TFiOS and I darkened John’s hair. And I tried to make the pizza one look a little more like pizza…

Greetings Nerdfighteria, I need your help!

Hello fellow Nerdfighters!

My name is Yaara and I study communications (and English Lit!) at Tel Aviv University. I’m doing a seminar research project as a part of my BA degree, and I chose to do it about Nerdfighteria.

As a part of this project I’m running a questionnaire, and I need as many Nerdfighters as possible to answer it. The more people fill it up, the more statistical data I will have to support my paper. So please, fill this out! Send it to your Nerdfighter friends and ask them to fill it out as well! Ask them to send it to THEIR Nerdfighter friends. Spread the word around, that would be tremendous help!

http://dft.ba/-nerdfighterseminar

You don’t have to read any further than this, but I’ll appreciate it if you do!

The second part of this project is a series of in-depth interviews with Nerdfighters, to better learn about the community (even though I am a proud Nerdfighter, I still need the account of others. For some reason academia wouldn’t just take my word that this is an awesome community). If you’re up to being interviewed, here is some info:

  • Interviews will be held via Skype (or, on the off-chance you live in Israel, we can meet up) in either English or Hebrew (sorry, those are the only language I speak well enough to interview in), at a time that suits you.
  • Interviews will take roughly an hour, though it could always be less or more - depending on how chatty you are :)
  • It’ll be more of a conversation than a formal thing, I AM a fellow Nerdfighter and I would love for this to be an opportunity to maybe meet some new Nerdfighter friends.
  • Interviews will be recorded. This is necessary because I need to be able to go back to your answers for the sake of the writing of the paper. I can, however, promise you that no one but me (and my lecturer, if she asks for it, and I’m sure she won’t) will listen to these recordings, and that you will be given a fake name (that you can even choose if you feel so inclined) to maintain your anonymity.
  • I unfortunately can’t offer incentives to interviewees. I am a poor student, and this project is not funded. I am, however, willing to donate a humble sum of money to a charity of your choice.

So, if all of this is okay with you - please contact me either by ask (and in that case include a way in which I can contact you), or by e-mailing me at: yaarashalom@yahoo.com with the topic “Nerdfighter seminar”. I might not get to interview everyone who volunteers (working on the vain assumption I’ll have plenty of volunteers here…), but I’ll try to get to as many of you who are willing.

Lastly, I’ll really appreciate it if you reblog this post to help spread it around!

Thanks Nerdfighteria! Best wishes, and DFTBA!

PS: I’m sorry for using some unrelated tagging on this post, I just want it to reach as many Nerdfighters as possible.

tl;dr - Seminar project about Nerdfighteria. Please fill up this questionnaire and spread it to all your friends: http://dft.ba/-nerdfighterseminar

If you’ve got a few minutes to spare, consider helping Yaara out by taking this survey!

Done. Please take part in this and help a fellow Nerdfighter.

“It’s not life or death, the labyrinth.”

“Um, okay. So what is it?”

“Suffering,” she said. “Doing wrong and having wrong things happen to you. That’s the problem. Bolívar was talking about the pain, not about the living or dying. How do you get out of the labyrinth of suffering?”

-In other news, Happy Alaska Young Day. Looking for Alaska came out almost seven years ago, and today it is finding more readers than ever. I am so grateful I am to all of you who’ve read the book and shared it with the people you care about. By doing so, you’ve given Alaska a life I could never have imagined for it. Thanks. The Leaking of The Fault in Our Stars

fishingboatproceeds:

Early this morning, I learned that BN.com had accidentally shipped out The Fault in Our Stars, which will be published on January 10th, to many people who’d preordered the book. Although efforts are being made to stop shipments wherever possible, some of these people will likely receive the book early.

This is disappointing for a variety of reasons, but mostly because we have worked very hard to make sure that everyone who wants to read TFiOS will be able to do so at the same time. This book has been making its way into the world for more than a decade, and I do not want any reader’s relationship with it tarnished by leaks or spoilers—particularly those readers who’ve preordered the book and intend to read it immediately upon publication.

But mistakes happen. The people who made this error were not bad or incompetent people, and they were not acting maliciously. We all make mistakes, and it is not my wish to see Barnes and Noble or any of their employees vilified.

If you happen to receive an early copy of The Fault in Our Stars, you should of course feel free to read it. (You should also feel free to wait until January 10th.) But please do not spoil it for other readers. Please don’t share quotes or reveal plot or anything else that might negatively affect other people’s reading experience.

I’m disappointed about this, but as my brother reminded me this morning, I am very, very lucky. I have the best readers in the world, readers who care not only about my books but also about each other. So thank you, in advance, for not sharing spoilers—whether you read The Fault in Our Stars before or after January 10th.

If you’d like to preorder a signed copy of The Fault in Our Stars, you can do so from your local independent bookstore, from Amazon, and, yes, even from Barnes and Noble.

Designing a Facebook cover consisting of Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Hunger Games and Nerdfighteria now…

Will post it when done.

Day 22 — A website

The website that first got me hooked onto the internet…

http://www.mugglenet.com/

In the days of dial-up internet and when I used to allowed only 20min internet time, mugglenet used to take so much time to load!!! Ahhh those early Potter memories.

Day 20 - A (nerdy) hobby of yours

I enjoy reading, a lot. I can read quite fast, my record may be finishing Harry Potter book 6 in about 17hrs.

That’s why I get irritated when I am reading with some and they are still stuck on the same page while I am dying to turn it.

Day 19 — Your favorite B2.0 punishment

Without a doubt the one where John and Hank had to replay a photo from their childhood.

John’s jumping mid-air pic —-> this

Hank’s goth/transgender pic ——> this

Day 18 — Your favorite B2.0 challenge

Hank’s challenge to perform a song bi-weekly (Song Wednesday)

I think it was the best challenge as it gave us so many brilliant songs, and Hank his music career!
